Isn't technology wonderful :)
In just a short few years (it feels like it anyway...) we have gone from black and white tv's with few channels .... to 24 hour 3D digital channels.... We have gone from desktop devices with dial up internet to wifi and laptops... from mobile phones owned by early adopters, to mobile devices where one can watch tv and video, play games, search, compare, bank and shop!
These last two items particularly - make ecommerce accessible to all - someone in the west of Ireland, can purchase from a store in the west coast of the states...or even Canada :)
I have taken a long hard look at WordPress, Woo Commerce and Shopify platforms creating for ecommerce web sites – and am blown away at how Shopify in particular opens the door to everyone, and encourages everyone to set up shop online...because it is easy.... And, I agree. The administration side of these platforms are doable. No longer, does one have to be able to code, so now, the small business user who has enough on their plate without having to learn to web design, can be up and running and accessing new markets in no time.
Training / documentation, blogs, networks - are available at the touch of a button - or pick up the phone and speak to a guru. Anything goes wrong?... help is at hand 24 hours a day.
I believe that this is only the start, why?.. Because it opens doors to people, because it will encourage entrepreneurship at a whole new level, and that's exciting.
